Repairs & emergency

One call. Fixed properly.

Broken hinge? Misted unit? Smashed glass? We repair all makes of uPVC, aluminium and composite windows and doors — quickly, tidily, and with no call-out fee.

What we repair

Most window and door problems are repairable. Replacing the whole unit is often the last resort, not the first — here's what we fix day in, day out.

Misted & blown double glazing

When a sealed unit's edge seal fails, moisture gets between the panes and the glass mists up permanently — no amount of cleaning fixes it, because the water is inside. The good news is that the frame is almost always fine. We measure the failed unit, order the glass, and swap only the unit, which costs a fraction of a new window. Most units are back and fitted within a week of measuring, and the fitting itself takes around 20 minutes per window.

Locks, cylinders & ABS upgrades

If your key spins, sticks, or you've had a snap-out, the euro cylinder is usually the culprit. We replace cylinders with ABS high-security anti-snap units, and can key-alike your front, back and garage doors so one key runs everything. If the multi-point mechanism inside the door has failed — you lift the handle and nothing engages — we replace the gearbox or full strip rather than the whole door.

Handles, hinges & doors dropping

A door that catches on the frame, or a window that needs a shove to close, is normally hinge wear or a slipped adjustment rather than anything terminal. We re-align, pack and adjust first; if the friction stays or flag hinges are worn out, we replace them. Broken or loose handles, espagnolette rods and letterplates are all stock items on the van.

Draughts & weather seals

Cold air around a closed window usually means perished gaskets, a compressed weather seal, or a sash that's sitting proud. Replacing the gasket and re-adjusting the sash restores compression and stops the draught. If a frame is genuinely past it, we'll tell you straight rather than sell a repair that won't hold.

Emergency glass replacement & boarding

Break-in, accident or vandalism — we make the property secure first with a board-up, then measure and refit the correct glass, including toughened and laminated safety glass where required by regulations (low-level glazing, doors and side panels). We can supply photos and details for insurance claims.

Commercial door repairs & closers

Aluminium shopfront doors, automatic entrances, overhead closers, floor springs, panic hardware and access control strikes. We can work outside trading hours so you don't lose business, and offer ongoing maintenance for premises with heavy footfall.

Repair FAQs

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. We quote for the repair itself — there's no separate call-out charge on top.

How quickly can you come out?

Emergency work such as smashed glass or a door that won't lock is usually same or next day in Rochdale and the surrounding towns. Non-urgent repairs are normally within the week.

Can misted glass be fixed without replacing it?

Not reliably. Drilling and 'defogging' treatments don't restore the failed seal or the insulating gas, so the misting comes back. Replacing the sealed unit is the proper fix and is still far cheaper than a new window.

Do I need a whole new window if the frame is old?

Usually not. If the frame is straight and the hardware can be sourced, a repair is the sensible option. We'll only recommend replacement when a repair genuinely won't last.

Can you repair windows you didn't fit?

Yes. We repair all makes of uPVC, aluminium and composite windows and doors, whoever installed them.

What areas do you cover for repairs?

Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton, Littleborough, Whitworth, Milnrow, Oldham, Bury and across Greater Manchester into Manchester City Centre.
